NFT-DAO Initiative: Pioneering Local Revitalization

The population decline in regional municipalities currently confronting South Korea mirrors Japan's historical experience from two decades ago. As Japan pivoted its strategic policy orientation from growing the registered resident population to expanding the 'relationship population' (Kankei Jinko), local governments voluntarily commenced the adoption of NFT and DAO technologies. Consequently, select municipalities are reaping preliminary milestones, such as securing digital residents, fostering voluntary civic participation, and expanding tourism revenues. Driven by technological evolution and the expansion of the digital economy, numerous activities that were historically restricted are now executed via the internet, entirely liberated from physical constraints. Individuals no longer remain confined to their nations of birth or regional localities; instead, they possess the agency to belong to any domain interconnected by the internet. Crucially, within the digital realm, individuals can maintain concurrent memberships across multiple communities, transcending legacy boundaries such as borders, nationalities, race, and age. These communities, through mutual cross-pollination and convergence, ultimately command greater systemic influence. If the operational spheres of individuals and enterprises expand beyond physical constraints, the parameters of the communities, local governments, and ultimately sovereign nations to which we belong may similarly expand far beyond our legacy conceptual frameworks. The variables dictating this expansion are centered within non-physical domains, such as shared values and core interests. Ultimately, this transformation delivers critical strategic implications for numerous nations and regional municipalities confronting population aging and demographic extinction. While conventional endeavors to bolster fertility rates and incentivize physical migration must be sustained, the reality of declining global fertility rates dictates that jurisdictions must seriously consider strategies to expand their relationship populations by leveraging diverse technologies, including blockchain, within the digital sphere.
